Our mission is to create lasting community-level solutions in isolated communities by facilitating collaboration and cross-sector partnerships.
Description
In 2009, the founders of U4C committed to President Bill Clinton and the Clinton Global Initiative University to address a specific global challenge through the implementation of innovative solutions designed to produce tangible results. The commitment involved the founders’ own homeland of Bolivia. This successful initiative concerned the mining communities of Bolivia, providing hundreds of women and families in mining towns access to literacy, education, healthcare and training for economic diversification. This initiative was one of the 13 commitments recognized by former President Bill Clinton at the Second Clinton Global Initiative University (CGIU) Meeting at The University of Texas in Austin, Texas. Additionally, U4C’s directors were invited to be part of the CGIU Press Conference and received the CGIU’s Outstanding Commitment Award, with a grant supported by the Pat Tillman Foundation. In 2014, Ximena Murillo was invited to the CGI 2014 Annual Meeting in New York City and The Clinton Foundation Future of the Americas Summit in Miami as an example of CGI University commitment and leadership.
U4C was born in order to execute this commitment and provide other social innovators the opportunity to implement a project or campaign in local communities-with access to a global community of people and entities who can contribute knowledge, ideas, experience and financial resources.
