Vermont Adaptive is a non-profit organization that offers recreational activities for people with any disability. For the past twenty years, Vermont Adaptive's year round programs have empowered people with disabilities to access a wide range of sporting activities such as kayaking, biking, sailing and skiing. All people who are disabled are welcomed as is indicated by the program's slogan "Sports for Every body". Adaptive recreation can change the lives of all those involved. Recreation is a tool that many use to gain confidence, independence, and foster a feeling of freedom. While often society questions what people who are disabled can do, Vermont Adaptive and its 200 trained volunteers only see possibilities for participants. Vermont Adaptive provides the knowledge, training and equipment to enable participants to enjoy sports at a reasonable cost. All involved are sure to have fun and access sporting activities that may not otherwise be available.
