Description

We currently provide two services: Meals on Wheels-Fresh, nutritious meals are delivered to homebound seniors age 60+. Seniors must live in the Medina County area and register in the program to receive meals. Meal delivery is accomplished by a variety of generous and kindhearted volunteers who give of their time and mileage, and/or staff drivers who visit the seniors one-on-one. This process has proven to be life enhancing for both individuals and life saving for many seniors who count on us each day. We also provide congregate dining at centers in Hondo and Devine, TX, serving a hot, nutritious lunch every weekday. We strive to schedule a variety of activities, presentations, exercise, art, outings as the seniors desire. Anyone over 60, regardless of income is invited to eat and/or participate, with contributions accepted on a donation basis. The lunch supplies one-third to one-half of an older adult's daily nutrition requirements. Each menu includes a protein entree, starch, vegetable, bread, dessert and a beverage prepared by our central kitchen staff of certified food managers and handlers. Our meals are well proportioned, varied and incredibly good - according to most diners.
