Description

The Vacaville Heritage Council is a non-profit historical archives and research organization specializing in the history of Solano County. Our extensive library is often used by the public in preparation of manuscripts; consultants preparing environmental reports; those seeking information on specific phases of city, county, and statewide history; and families researching their personal histories. Historic photographs from our collection are made available to local merchants for display at their locations.

We photograph historic maps, documents and old family albums. Entire family albums brought to the Heritage Council are digitally photographed and photo CDs returned to the donor with their original albums. Information stored in our archives is made available for non-commercial reproduction and use by the public and other organizations. Our current focus includes a new research website which we have developed that is updated as the conversion of our archives to digital format progresses. The creation of video oral histories of county residents is also an ongoing endeavor. Members often make location visits to verify newly discovered historic locations or add video footage to our stories.
