Description
Incorporated in 1978, the Urban Cultural Arts Foundation was established to administer the William H. Thomas Gallery as a place for artists and art lovers alike to appreciate cultural expression and non traditional art forms. Along with other workshops and the annual African Village Arts Festival, the Foundation presents four exhibits each year at the William H. Thomas Gallery. The Gallery, a work of art itself built for and by African American and African artists, is a community gallery with a 30 year history of bringing the arts into the center of urban Columbus by hosting a full spectrum of artists from both the local community and abroad. Located in a once dilapidated house, the Foundation and its Thomas Gallery epitomize creativity - now providing a home for artistic expression and a vehicle for unique and culturally-specific outreach programs enjoyed by guests of every age and ethnicity.
