The Robotics Education & Competition Foundation's mission is to increase students' interest and involvement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by engaging them in hands-on, affordable, and sustainable robotics engineering programs. Through partnerships with K-12 education, higher education, government, industry, and the non-profit community that provide access to high-quality programs, the REC Foundation’s vision is to change the world by inspiring young people in all communities to pursue degrees and careers in STEM fields. Using our online resources and curriculum our regional staff supports events that aim to inspire students to excel in STEM education. In addition to operating and supporting competitions for some of the world’s leading robotics programs, including VEX, TSA, and BEST Robotics, the foundation also provides program support and workshops focused on technology and professional development for educators.
The REC Foundation serves over 20,100 student-led teams from elementary school through college in over 50 countries. Each year the REC Foundation works in close partnership with VEX Robotics to unveil new engineering game challenges for the VEX IQ Challenge and the VEX Robotics Competition. Led by their teachers and mentors, students form teams to design, build, and program robots for competition. Creating a workforce prepared to solve our future problems depends on our ability to harness students’ natural curiosity, engage them in meaningful learning opportunities, incite their passion, and expand their interest in a variety of subjects. The VEX competition experience provides just that type of environment, ensuring we have lifelong learners, excited to contribute to their future and ours.
