Share your love of nature with children in our beautiful Wetlands Preserve. Help get children outside to experience and learn about our wonderful Florida environment! You will assist staff during activities which may include marsh/swamp hikes, boardwalk tours, dip netting, crafts, etc. Most activities are outdoors and some will include hiking through various terrains, including mud and water. You chose which activities you'll assist with. Most programs occur on weekday mornings between 9:30am to 1:00pm. Weekly 3 to 4 hour shifts preferred/minimum of three shifts a month required. Minimum age 16 years old and up. A completed volunteer application and background check are required.

Enjoy gardening, or would you like to learn more about native plants? Use your time, energy and talent to help our demonstration gardens grow and flourish. A strong interest in Florida native plants, and conservation issues are very helpful. Having a green thumb is not a prerequisite! Duties include: Learning about Florida native plants in our Butterfly and Demonstration gardens. Cleanup/trim/weed in our native gardens, seed collection, propagation, potting, etc. Volunteers must be able to work in the heat, to bend, squat, dig, chop, and lift 20 lbs. Volunteers must give a minimum of two 2-3 hour volunteer shifts per month. We depend on volunteers to keep our demonstrations gardens in shape- join our team!

Enjoy our beautiful Wetlands and our Wilderness Pavilion views while sharing your love of nature with visitors! The nature center steward interacts and greets all visitors coming into the nature center. You will dispense program and exhibit information, make program reservations, answers phones, etc., May also include some office duties. Between visitors you may choose to pursue your interests, such as reading a book- one of your own or from our small, interesting and well stocked library on Florida's natural environment. Morning (9:00am -1:00Pm) or afternoon (1:00-4:30pm) shifts are available. Weekly 3 to 4 hour shifts preferred or a minimum of two shifts a month are required. Minimum age 16. Volunteer application & background check required.

Enjoy the great outdoors of South Florida and share you love of nature! Help as a canoe volunteer with a variety of public and specialty canoe outings in our beautiful Everglades wetlands preserve! These canoe programs include school field trips, family outings, visiting camps and others. Programs vary from two to three hours and are offered primarily in mornings and occasionally in early evening twilight hours. You will assist as back up support with our guided canoe outings. Help with setup/breakdown and during the canoe outing. After the outing, you will assist with clean up and putting away materials and/or all equipment. You MUST be able to help LIFT canoes/kayaks (approximate weight 40+ lbs.) on and off their storage racks. On occasion, you may be required to tow another boat with struggling visitors. Minimum age- 18+
