I would definitely recommend STARS to any one interested in volunteering in their community. My experience tutoring there has been amazing. The Job Corps staff is welcoming and supportive. The students have been receptive to my assistance and show great appreciation and respect. I began tutoring as a chance to share with others the positive experiences that I had during my education and because I believe in the impact volunteering has on our community. I did not realize how much I would also gain personally. Overall, the experience has exceeded my expectations.

I began tutoring for this organization in January. STARS appealed to me because of my passion for volunteering and teaching. I had an amazing time helping students with math, as well as being a positive role model. I have always walked out feeling like I have helped someone. Mr. Martin, who heads the tutoring program, is extremely helpful and understanding. I would recommend this program to anyone that has some extra time to help some of the young individuals part of the Job Corp. The hours are very flexible and Mr. Martin is always willing to work with your schedule!
