Mission Statement

Mission of Friends In Deed: To reduce poverty and homelessness in the Pasadena area.

Mission of The Women's Room At Friends In Deed: To build collegiality and courage that will make it possible for women who are alone and homeless or at risk to regain their sense of self and to reclaim goals that have been lost in the day-to-day struggle for survival. The ultimate goal is to foster independence.

Description

The Women's Room (TWR) is a safe daytime refuge for women who are homeless or at risk. It provides a homelike place where women are welcomed as they are - no questions asked -- and made to feel at home. Food, conversation, games, TV are the order of the day: Fun, food and fellowship. Guests also have access to the other Friends In Deed services as well as referrals to other agencies.

Friends In Deed also sponsors a food pantry, homeless prevention services, Bad Weather Shelter and Stay Healthy, a free health-maintenanceprogram supervised by a licensed vocational nurse from the Bill Moore Community Health Clinic.
