Mission Statement

The mission of the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii is to address critical legal needs through high quality legal advocacy, outreach, and education in the pursuit of justice and fairness.

Description

The Legal Aid Society of Hawai`i is a public interest, non-profit law firm dedicated to achieving fairness and justice for Hawai`i's people through legal advocacy, outreach and education for those in need. Established in 1950, Legal Aid has ten offices statewide, and over 100 staff members dedicated to achieving Legal Aid’s vision of "Building a Just Society." As our vision implies, we live in a society that is unjust or, at best, not yet just, with structural inequities, economic injustice, and unequal access to the justice system. To remedy this, our focus is on critical legal services for those in need, whether by providing direct services, helping people help themselves, advocating on behalf of others, or educating people. Providing legal services is our unique contribution.
