Mission Statement

The Urban Servant Corps seeks to fulfill Christ's mission of love demonstrated through action by working for peace with justice, advocating for and with oppressed persons and sharing our power and abundance with those most in need.

Description

WHAT WE DO... The Urban Servant Corps hosts 18-24 full time volunteers each year, providing volunteers the opportunity to explore living in community, spirituality, service, and issues of social justice. HOW WE DO IT... Each volunteer serves full time at a local non-profit agency working with marginalized and at-risk populations. These agencies pay for the cost of volunteers' food, health insurance, housing and a modest monthly stipend. In this arrangement everyone wins: the volunteers have the opportunity to work in dynamic organizations, the agencies benefit from the volunteers' skills and enthusiasm, and the Urban Servant Corps grows and learns with each individual who comes to live and serve.
