Mission Statement

The New Song Center provides comprehensive grief education, support for healing and positive social change following traumatic loss.

Description

The New Song Center for Grieving Children offers confidential on-gong bi-weekly support groups for grieving children ages 5-17, young adults 18-25, adult caregivers and grandparents. Children engage in developmentally appropriate activities including art, play and journaling. Adults attend their own support groups where they learn how to help children process grief in a healthy manner and how to help themselves copy with loss. All groups are co-facilitated by trained and caring volunteers who complete a comprehensive experiential training course including skills to facilitate support groups. The support groups are offered in Avondale, Gilbert, Phoenix and Scottsdale including a Luz del Corazon Spanish group. Please visit our Web for more information and complete the on-line volunteer application to join our team. The link is https://www.hov.org/volunteer-0 .

AWESOME organization. The others volunteers and staff are fantastic. They keep me coming back. It is extremely rewarding to see the progress our children and their caregivers make, after coming to us for support. While grieving children sounds sad, the safe environment we create allows for fun ways for the kids to process their grief work. They're eager to come back to us each group night. Many type of volunteer activities are available from serving our families pizza before group meetings twice a month to volunteering as a group facilitator for a year to joining our speaker's bureau in educating our community. We have 5 locations around the Valley. Come play with us.

This is the most awesome place I have ever served. Tremendous training, lots of support and CE. The kids we work with are the BEST. It is amazing as we just "trust the process"
