Self Help, Inc., formed in 1969, is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping those in need in Northern New Mexico by providing crisis intervention, case management, advocacy, seed money for entrepreneurial projects and grants for vocational or higher education. The organization's work demonstrates that the most effective assistance is aimed at enhancing an individual or family's life skills and level of self-reliance. Self Help's staff assists clients in negotiating the myriad human service, legal, and financial resources that may help to resolve a crisis or long-term problem. Clients are the working poor, displaced, facing job loss, or they are on fixed incomes such as Social Security Disability, unemployment compensation or assistance through the New Mexico Income Support Division
