Mission Statement

The mission of the Bluegrass Regional Mental Health- Mental Retardation Board is to assist individuals and families in the enhancement of their emotional, mental and physical well-being by providing mental health, mental retardation/developmental disabilities and substance abuse services.

We recognize our responsibity to serve those who have limited options for meeting their needs. We plan with our communities, develop innovative programs to respond rapidly to needs and, as appropriate, help influence community priorities to ensure that individual and community service gaps are addressed.

Description

The mission of Eastern State Hospital is to assist persons in reaching and maintaining their highest level of functioning by providing evaluation, individualized treatment, support, education, and consultation to our patients and their families. As the inpatient component of an integrated, comprehensive mental health system, we serve adults whose functioning is affected by mental illness and whose treatment needs cannot be met in the community. By encouraging innovation, individual diversity and continuous improvements, we produce an enhanced quaility of life and successful return to the community for our patients. We coordinate with other agencies and plan with our communities to ensure that the mental health service needs are met.
