Mission Statement

The Alderson Federal Women's Prison Camp is located in Alderson, WV. About 31 years ago Dick Dieter and Maggie Louden formed the Alderson Hospitality House to provided housing for the families of the women on weekends when them come to see their loved ones. Most families don't have a lot of extra funds and it is a hardship on them to travel and then have to pay for a motel also. So the house is non-profit, working from donations only. Both from guests and benefactors. It is wonderful for folks to stay at the house because they are all in the same boat and can feel comfortable, no one is judging them. The house is run by volunteers. Right now we have a husband and wife team that are the directors and they are great but they have committed to another volunteer placement and have to leave. We have a young girl that volunteers also and she'll be there until October, 08.

Description

We are in need of directors and a committment of at least one year. Room and board are provded as well as a stipend. Job description is running the house, i.e, cooking, cleaning, washing, making beds, lawn care, etc. and just being their for folks if they need to talk. Sometimes there can be as many as 60 people so we need someone that isn't afraid of hard work.
