Mission Statement
Muslims for Progressive Values (MPV) seeks to bring together progressive Muslims and friends who share their values to work for a more humane world. We welcome all who are interested in discussing, promoting and working for the implementation of progressive values -- social justice, human rights, economic opportunity, separation of church and state -- as well as tolerant and inclusive understandings of Islam.
Description
MPV is an international NGO guided by ten principles, namely collective identity, equality, the separation of religious and state authorities, freedom of speech, universal human rights, gender equality, LGBTQI inclusion, critical analysis and interpretation, compassion and diversity.
MPV provides advocacy work on a high policy level at the United Nations in order to promote inclusive and tolerant understandings of Islam based on universal human rights, peace and justice.
MPV carries out grassroots activities through its local chapters in the US, namely in Atlanta, Columbus, Washington DC, Chicago, New York and Los Angeles, and in Australia, Canada, Chile, France and Malaysia.
People of all faiths and backgrounds are encouraged to volunteer with our organization.
