I’d prefer a keen amateur with a great volunteering record over an A+ professional since the need for pictures is so great with our rescue. You don’t need huge photographic files, because, with 100s of birds through in a year, that’ll eat up computer storage space. Plus, with most shared on social media and viewed on phones, all your megapixels will be unwieldy and unnecessary. We need photographers to come to the rescue and/or go to an event to shoot photos for our social media, and printed materials. We will need photos in a quick turn around so we can use them on social media to thank people as well as debrief folks on what we did at the event. Being able to work at speed is essential. You love these two things: animal welfare and photography. Experience with parrots is not necessary but would help in the long run understand how to take pictures of them through cage bars or out on a stand.
