Mission Statement

The Century Club hosts a world-class PGA TOUR event to maximize support for the San Diego community and local youth programs.

Description

The Century Club was founded in July, 1961, when tournament officials of the then SD Open decided they must have a broader base of support than the single corporate sponsorship previously provided by SD Chevrolet Dealers. The CC was named because memberships were initially priced at $100. By 1981, with pressures from the PGA TOUR to increase purse monies and City fin. support withdrawn because of effects of Prop 13, the CC entered into its first agreement with a sponsor, The Wickes Companies, Inc. In 1983 American Isuzu Motors assumed the sponsorship for a three-year period, and in 1986 Shearson Lehman Brothers entered into a working agreement for sponsorship through 1991. On January 18, 2010 the PGA TOUR and Farmers Insurance Group announced an agreement whereby the Farmers Exchanges will title sponsor the 2010 tournament, to be known as the Farmers Insurance Open. After a successful event, Farmers Insurance agreed to continue as the title sponsor through 2019.
