Mission Statement

Embracing Children. Inspiring Lives.

Children's Home Society of Florida is Florida's largest and oldest statewide not-for-profit serving children and families.

The North Central Division is based in Tallahassee and serves almost 4,500 children and families in eight counties each year. We offer a unique range of social services through programs that include foster care case management, special needs and international adoptions, abuse prevention and family strengthening support, abuse investigation, counseling for children and families, emergency shelter for children, and services for children with - or at risk for - developmental delays or disabilities.

Our ongoing volunteer application process for those working directly with our children includes a written application, reference checks, a background check (which requires you complete a fingerprint card), intake paperwork such as confidentiality forms, and an orientation session. The first step is to complete and submit the application: once you have looked through the current volunteer opportunities listed here on Volunteer Match, click on the "I Want To Help" button in the description of the position you are interested in. After you complete the submission, you will immediately receive an e-mail containing our application which you can complete on computer and e-mail back to CHS staff. Please help us reduce paper waste and don't print your application unless you have problems with electronic submission.

Our volunteer opportunities do change, so please check back often for the most recent information on how you can join CHS in helping each child reach their full potential.

Would you recommend Children's Home Society of Florida - North Central?

There are many children that are placed in situations that are beyond their control and they need someone on the outside at times to help them through it all. After losing both parents between ages 2 and 6 I know how it feels. If there is any organization tying to help then I find easy to recommend someone, because there are too many children in the world crying for it , but not enough helpers.
