Mission Statement
Immeasurably More envisions changing the way others relate to God and the world by taking them on journeys to places they have never been. We provide education, mentoring and experiences. We believe these encounters will cause people to be transformed and allow them to live freely in the incredible love of God and to return that love to the world around them.
Description
Immeasurably More was established in Austin, Texas in 1998 as a non-profit organization seeking to send short-term medical missionaries to disadvantaged areas around the world.
In 2007 Immeasurably More began to lay the ground work for a new kind of program to help fulfill our vision, we call this program the Wilderness Pilgrimage.
The dream was to create a wilderness survival program for boys for the purpose of providing mentorship from older Christian men and a creative approach to the spiritual life.
The program is aimed at reaching into the lives of young men who grow up without fathers and helping to provide them with incredible mentors.
Immeasurably More mentors are safe, successful volunteer adults from the community who meet monthly with their mentee. The location of the mentoring meetings alternates between our private wilderness property as well as many wilderness areas surrounding Austin where mentors assist and learn survival and a variety of life skills and adventures. All matches are one adult to one youth and are required to last for a full calendar year, with a seven day expedition trip during the summer months.
The Immeasurably More Wilderness Pilgrimage helps to foster relationships between these young men and their mentors. This program uses the wilderness as a common ground to form relationships and learn skills that build self-respect, self-reliance and self awareness. Teaching wilderness survival skills is an incredible way to help people look at the world and their lives with new eyes. Through learning and working together in the program, deeper connections form and lasting relationships are built.
It does not matter if you are a mountain man or someone who has never been camping before. No wilderness skills are necessary to be a part of this program. In fact, learning these skills together will be half the fun. We are looking for men with the heart to serve and a desire to adventure together in the wild. The only thing needed is the willingness to be a friend and guide to a young man.
