It's that time again: join us as a volunteer for the 51st edition of our biggest event of the year, the Old Wilmington by Candlelight Tour! We are currently looking for volunteers to help us with... Tour site recruitment Invite owners of historic homes and other local historic sites to be included on the tour Sponsor and donor procurement Network with local businesses and community groups to solicit sponsorship of the event Marketing and publicity Develop social media posts and other advertisements regarding the event Docents (positions will become available in September - check back later for more info!) Volunteers are rewarded with a free, complimentary Candlelight Tour ticket and receive an exclusive invitation to the highly anticipated Candlelight Tour Party. Do you love historic homes? Enjoy looking at beautiful art? Feel passionate about meeting new people with similar interests? Then volunteering at the Latimer House museum might just be perfect for you! We are currently looking for enthusiastic and reliable docent volunteers to immerse our guests in Victorian Wilmington society. As a museum guide, your main responsibility is leading groups of guests through the fully-furnished Latimer House while informing them about the Latimer family and local Wilmington history. Docents will be given all the house information and facts and will be trained by our executive staff, but you are free to tell the House history in your own unique way. We are very flexible and want to work with you - we do our best to work with your needs and schedule! We look forward to meeting you!

Mission Statement
The Lower Cape Fear Historical Society, Inc. (LCFHS) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to the preservation and promotion of the history of the Lower Cape Fear region since 1956. The Society concentrates on preserving records and disseminating knowledge of local history.
Description
LCFHS has led the restoration and exhibition of the Latimer House, a noteworthy example of Victorian Italianate Revival architecture, since 1963. Within the walls of Latimer, LCFHS leads tours, educational programs and exhibits, and special events. The Latimer House is also home to our comprehensive collection of over 600 artifacts and an extensive archive and library. Since October 1957, LCFHS also publishes pathbreaking historical research in the LCFHS Bulletin.
