Description
The Chill Foundation is a non-profit youth development program started by Jake and Donna Carpenter of Burton snowboards in 1997 in Burlington, Vermont. Our mission is to provide opportunities for underserved youth to build self-esteem and life skills through snowboarding and other board sports. We are located in 13 cities across North America with our national office in Burlington, Vermont. In 2001, the Chicago Chill program was developed as a seasonal snow program impacting 80 Chicagoland youth each year. In 2014, Chill Chicago expanded to a year round program adding a Fall 2015 and Summer 2016 program. Our program serves children between the ages of 10 and 18 and uses snowboarding and other board sports as a vehicle to teach skills of respect, patience, persistence, responsibility, courage, and pride. By providing youth with a positive environment, support from positive role models, and a sense of purpose we are able to empower youth to reach goals they never thought possible.
