Paxton Ministries is a Christian nonprofit community of homes serving adults who may be challenged with social, mental, or emotional needs. Paxton Ministries offers a supportive, family-like environment where love and compassion are a way of life--where dignity and self-worth are recognized in every individual.

Description

Paxton Street Home, our main facility, is a licensed Personal Care Home for 85 adults. Many of our residents deal with mental illness and are economically disadvantaged. We minister to the whole person, regardless of one's ability to pay, and help with the development of life skills and resources to live as independently as possible.

In Paxton Street Homes people with disabilities and those without share their lives in community. These communities are signs of hope where: People are welcomed, celebrated, and encouraged to grow as human beings; People are transformed through intimate bonds with others; and Justice, compassion and faith are practiced in the smallest acts of daily living. This community reminds me of a lot of another community, known as L’Arche, which fosters compassion for all people, honoring differences of intellectual capacity, social origin, religion, culture, race and belief. L’Arche means “the ark” in French and embodies a place of belonging and hope, grounded in faith and trust in God. And Paxton Street Homes supports the L'Arche Community in every way.
