Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Since 1965, South Shore Community Action Council (SSCAC) has provided a range of critical, anti-poverty services to low-income individuals and families on Massachusetts’ South Shore, Cape Cod, and the Islands. Our mission is to eliminate poverty along the South Shore by affording everyone in need with opportunities for education, training and work; to live with dignity; to contribute to the full extent of their capabilities; and to participate in the workings of our society.
SSCAC runs many programs in the areas of youth and family development, income maximization, nutrition and food assistance, emergency assistance, asset development and financial education, energy assistance, employment, and transportation assistance. In addition to our main office located in Plymouth, SSCAC operates 3 South Shore Early Education sites (Plymouth, Marshfield, Kingston), 2 additional Fuel Assistance intake offices (Hyannis, Martha's Vineyard), and our Food Distribution Center (Plymouth). SSCAC’s active and engaged Board of Directors is entirely composed of residents of our primary service area, which includes the following South Shore towns: Carver, Duxbury, Hanover, Hull, Kingston, Marshfield, Norwell, Pembroke, Plymouth, Plympton, and Scituate.
