Compass Point Village Volunteer

Flexible Schedule | Asheville, NC 28805

Compass Point Village volunteers can perform a multitude of tasks. The program has even been developed to leave room for volunteers to use their own interests and skills to give back to their unhoused and recently housed community members. Opportunities: Lunch service volunteer: 11am-1pm daily : Serving food to the newly housed Compass Point community members. Library volunteer: flexible hours : Tidying up the books in the library. This can happen at random times throughout the week or once weekly. Clubhouse volunteer: This can be done as an individual or as a small group. Leading/hosting workshops, classes, celebrations etc. Examples of this include: game nights, movie nights, computer skills classes, resume workshops, workout classes, meditation classes, art workshops, bike repair, limited series' classes on life skills. Plenty of options! Housekeeping: flexible hours : picking up trash around the facility and helping support folks as needed

AHOPE Day Center

This opportunity connects volunteers/staff with those experiencing homelessness. We believe that housing is a basic human right and we are working towards our mission to prevent and end homelessness in our community through permanent housing and support. AHOPE is where our community members come for some basic assistance like mail services, shower and personal item storage services, as well as, a meal from 8-10am in the morning. We utilize our volunteers to help replenish food, hand out and sort mail or to pass out toiletries at our hospitalities. We have relatively flexible shifts and would ask that people stick to a schedule whether it be a certain day each week, every other week, or once a month. We appreciate the time that our volunteers commit to our day center and want to make it as rewarding as possible.
