Mission Statement

Teens 13-17: Participate in a Psychology Study about Social Processes The Stress and Development Lab at the University of Washington in Seattle is looking for right-handed teenagers aged 13 to 17 and their parents to take part in a study about life experiences and social processes in teens. How do I sign up? Please have your parent or guardian contact us at SPStudy@uw.edu to schedule a time to participate or call us at 206-221-9276. They can also visit our website: www.stressdevelopmentlab.org. Your parent/guardian needs to provide permission for you to participate.

Description

What does the study involve? The study involves two visits. During the first visit in our Lab, which takes about 2.5-3 hours, you and your parent will complete surveys about your life experiences. Teens will also complete social perspective taking and decision making tasks. In the second session, which takes about 2 hours, teens will complete some of the same tasks during an MRI scan. What do I get for participating? You will receive $45 for completing the first part of the study and $100 for completing the fMRI session. Your parent will also receive $25 for participating in the first session. Free parking will be provided.
