Are you looking to help others while earning member benefits? Members of the AmeriCorps Paid Volunteer program at Big Bend Hospice make a difference in the lives local families, while earning a monthly $190 stipend, and an education award scholarship of $1,718.25* at the end of the completed program year. Members provide in-home volunteer support to veterans and military families in our hospice & palliative care programs, serving those with serious or life-limiting illnesses and allowing caregivers to take much-needed breaks. Volunteer activities include spending time with the patient, talking and sharing stories, preparing light snacks or lunches, taking walks, or other activities the patient enjoys. Volunteers don't provide any hands-on care to patients, and receive valuable face-to-face experience with their assigned patients and families! We are looking to recruit 8 caring member volunteers who will be serving from now through 8/31/2023. Member volunteers serve about 10 - 12 hours per week, for a total of 450 hours by August 31st 2023 to receive the education award scholarship ($1,718.25). Full COVID vaccination is required for in-home service to begin, but no masks are currently required during service unless preferred by the family. For their service, member volunteers will receive: a monthly stipend of $190 (direct deposit) an Education Award scholarship of $1,718.25 after completed service year student loan forbearance (deferring your loan) with paid interest professional training, and much more!
