Mission Statement

The mission of Family Health Centers of Baltimore is to provide quality and affordable primary health services to the community. Family Health Centers of Baltimore has a vision to be the provider of choice, leading the elimination of health disparities in the communities we serve.

Family Health Centers of Baltimore Inc. (FHCB) is A 501©3 federally qualified health center (FQHC) that provides primary care and supportive services at four locations. These four locations are:

Brooklyn/Curtis Bay - 3540 South Hanover Street

Cherry Hill: 631 Cherry Hill Road

Downtown: 315 N. Calvert Street

Downtown: 301 St Paul Street (OBGYN only)

FHCB’s Cherry Hill and Brooklyn health centers are NCQA recognized patient centered medical homes, and our FQHC is accredited by the Joint Commission; it currently serves over 18,000 patients of which 72% are African American, 31% are below 100% of the poverty level, 65% are Medicaid patients, and 4% are uninsured.

The availability of a full service FQHC enhances community involvement in prevention initiatives, in addition to assuring access to affordable quality health care services.

Pediatrics, family medicine, adult medicine, OBGYN services, dental services and substance abuse treatment are available Monday through Friday. Weekend hours and evening hours are available at Cherry Hill and Calvert Street. Sliding fee discounts for people with incomes below 200% of poverty are readily available. Van services are offered to low income residents living in zip code 21225. Improvements in diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, cancer prevention, prenatal care, oral health and obesity are the national objectives of federally qualified health centers. These health care goals are aligned with the needs of the target population. Of particular concern are the number of teenage parents and growing numbers who are expecting a second child. Contraceptive health services are a mandated FQHC service and are provided, regardless of income.

Patients are actively engaged in the management of their care. Same day appointments are available. FHCB primary care services drive efficiency and promote savings to the health care system by helping people maintain good health and preventing disease and expensive emergency room visits. Evidence based medicine, published by Up To Date and taken from the U.S. Preventive Task Force, are the guidelines used by our provider staff and available electronically.
