Description

The hospice volunteer may perform the following duties: Support ive services to patient (Cannot provide hands-on direct patient care) The needs of the hospice program and the level of expertise of the volunteers shall determine the responsibilities of the volunteers. . Some factors which determine volunteer duties are: A. Skills B. Talents C. Imagination D. Creativity E. Professional training Volunteers are encouraged to collaborate and make recommendations regarding the definition of their role. Volunteers should be assigned duties that are appropriate to their skills and interests. The volunteer assists the hospice program by helping to reduce the burdens of the terminally-ill and their families by: A. Providing support to the patient/family B. Assisting the patient to maintain maximum independence C. Assisting the patient/family to understand the death and dying process D. Assisting the patient to die with dignity Volunteers are not allowed to transport patients.
