Description
Hospice is committed to providing service to individuals and families in every diagnostic group, age, and socio-economic category and of every race, creed, and nationality. Patient care is provided through a coordinated program of home and inpatient care, that provides palliative and supportive medical care, health and counseling services to the terminally ill and their families, through an interdisciplinary team of professionals and volunteers. The program provides care to meet the physical, psychological, social, spiritual and other special needs experienced during the final stages of illness, dying and bereavement.
Volunteers play an important part in the care and service provided to patients, families, and caregivers in their place of residence or in the St. Anthony Hospice Inpatient Unit.
The volunteer program is coordinated by our volunteer specialist, who is responsible to provide the volunteer with an assignment and care plan, which is developed to meet the needs of our patients, families, and caregivers and to meet the needs of our volunteers through flexible scheduling, orientation, and education.
Volunteers are an integral part of the team and are greatly appreciated for the personal time and support given to the program as recognized through our family surveys, annual luncheon, and participation in volunteer education and staff meetings.
