RSVP provides adults 55+ with volunteer opportunities to pursue their interests and use their abilities to meet the needs of residents in Frederick County, Md. RSVP of Frederick County supports volunteer stations by recruiting and matching older volunteers to meet the particular needs of each agency. The skills, interests, and life experiences of volunteers are matched with opportunities offered within the nonprofit community and various government agencies. Volunteers are able to select their assignments and determine their hours of service.
The aging population in Frederick County is revealing a wealth of potential for older volunteers to make in impact in our community. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is America’s largest volunteer network for people age 55 and better. In Frederick County, RSVP volunteers are making an impact by growing the capacity of public and nonprofit agencies in Frederick County, specifically in such areas as: distributing food to families in need; delivering meals to homebound individuals; providing transportation to veterans and the homebound elderly; providing health education and outreach programs; providing interpretation services and citizenship classes; helping individuals find appropriate housing by filing for tax credits and locating resources for home repairs; assisting agencies with volunteer program development; collaborating with the Commission on Aging to help communities develop "Villages" and the support networks to make them successful.
