Mission Statement

On Your Feet Foundation values the choice birth parents have made to place their children for adoption, helps birth parents become self-sufficient, and provides support and community after placement.

Description

On Your Feet Foundation was founded in 2001 by adoptive parents, adoption professionals and a birth parent who recognized the need for practical help for women who had chosen adoption for their child. We are a small, nonprofit 501c3 organization that provides personal support to birth parents to help them get "back on their feet." OYFF focuses on helping our clients build a better life by giving them the tools they need through case management and coaching, monetary grants and through the creation of a community of other birth parents. Our case management services and monetary grants are available to birth parents living in Illinois and Indiana. Our annual retreats are open to any birth mother who would like to attend. We also provide speakers for adoption related educational courses and panels, including birth parents, adoptive parents and adoption professionals.

OYFF is the only nonprofit committed to serving the unique needs of women that have placed a child for adoption. They are caring, compassionate, and understanding to a situation that most lack knowledge on how to deal with.

Every adoption begins with a birth mother. The On Your Feet Foundation supports women who have entrusted another family with the task of raising their child. Support for this organization is a way to show respect for this niche segment of the population, a segment that all too often becomes the forgotten piece in the adoption triangle.

I have been part of OYFF for over 10 years. They are amazing organization that helps so many moms and is an asset to the adoption community. I have worked for them, volunteered for them and am currently on the board. This is important work. We are small but mighty!

On Your Feet Foundation is the only organization dedicated solely to serving the needs of women who have made an adoption plan for their child. OYFF provides case management services, retreats for birthmoms and offers grants to help women get back on their feet following adoption. It is a truly wonderful and important organization, particularly for anyone involved in adoption.
