Mission Statement

Henry Ford Hospice is dedicated to providing compassionate hospice care of the highest quality, to serve the needs of terminally ill patients and their families. The term "Hospice" comes from the root word Hospitality. In times past, hospice was a place of shelter for travelers on a difficult journey. Those who participate in the hospice program would agree that no journey in life is more difficult than that of those suffering a terminal illness. Hospice provides End of Life Care for people with varied diagnoses in the end stages of the illness. These include, but are not limited to, heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, Alzheimer's disease or dementia, multiple sclerosis, renal failure, cancer and AIDS. The services Hospice provides are comprehensive, efficient, clinically effective, and enhanced by education and research programs.

Description

Volunteers serve as companions in the various area nursing homes or by helping out in the hospice office.

i would recommend this type of thing to anyone that want to show care and kindess to another human being. Like my self that has been recently laid off and want something to do with their time while going to school and im a family orientated person. That like bringing joy to someone else life. Everyone that i come in contact with tells me that i have a kind spirit and i told a old worker of mine what my goals were and she said that i would be perfect for your program im not going to volunteer at this location but im going to volunteer at the dearborn lcoation closer to my home.
