The Corporation is incorporated under the laws of the State of New Mexico specifically to raise funds for the La Cueva Volunteer Fire Department (LCVFD), a Sandoval County Agency, to manage funds collected as donations to LCVFD, and to provide other non-emergency support functions such as public relations, education, and outreach on behalf of the LCVFD.
La Cueva Volunteer Fire Auxiliary, Inc. is a newly formed, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It supports the La Cueva Volunteer Fire Department by providing funds for items not included in the operating or grant budgets, such as, water and food for firefighters and rescuers working on emergency scenes, some specialized equipment, and materials for community outreach and education. The Auxiliary receives funds from donations, fund-raising and grants. The fire department serves the area along Highway 4 from Soda Dam to the Los Alamos county line, and along Highway 126 from La Cueva to beyond Seven Springs. The Department has five fire stations and is 100% volunteer-staffed. They respond to 911 medical calls, structure fires, wildland fires and Search and Rescue.
