To create competent, compassionate, cooperative, and commited leaders with the knowledge, skills and dispositions, which direct the energy and innovation of volunteer community opportunities.

Description

The Student Volunteer Center coordinates such volunteer programs as walks, neighborhood projects, and reading projects to name a few. These programs provide opportunities for one-time, or ongoing volunteer, work study, or leadership-oriented opportunities. The SVC will encourage outstanding pre-service educators to join our efforts to close the achievement gap, align Norfolk State University with Section 1111b of the 2001 No Child Left Behind ACT (community involvement), and diminish the educational divide in our neighborhood schools. The SVC will serve as a resource for finding, developing, and coordinating meaningful volunteer opportunities with various organization, which enhance the pre-service educator's field experiences.
