Mission Statement

The Laura (Riding) Jackson Foundation mission is to preserve and interpret the home of the late poet and author, and to promote literary programs that nurture a passion for the written word.

Description

The Laura (Riding) Jackson Foundation supervises a number of programs to enrich Indian River County.

We preserve the historic home of the late author and poet Laura (Riding) Jackson located in Wabasso, Florida. This historic home was built in 1910 and exemplifies "Florida Cracker Style" architecture.

We also host a number of Teen Writers Workshops catered to local teens in grades 9-12. These workshops provide high quality instruction by published authors and artists in order to produce a new generation of competent creative writers.
