The Junior League of Johnson City is a non-profit organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable .

Description

The Junior League of Johnson City (JLJC) currently works to meet the nutritional needs of children in the region through their Backpack for Kids program in conjunction with Second Harvest Food Bank, and Kids in the Kitchen, a program created by the Association of Junior Leagues International which teaches healthy lifestyle choices to children. League members also work together to feed the families at Ronald McDonald House once per month.

Members gain leadership skills through chairing and participating on committees, and attending leadership trainings locally and regionally.

The JLJC raises funds for their projects through selling two league cookbooks, Treasures of the Smokies and Smoky Mountain Magic, and other fundraisers such as Touch a Truck kids' event.
