The Volunteer Guardianship Program for the Elderly is designed to aid persons 60 years of age or older who are unable to make healthcare decisions and who have no family member or friend willing and able to act on their behalf.
The Volunteer Guardian Program for the Elderly matches volunteers conservators with wards of the court. The wards have been deemed incompetent either mentally, physically, or both. They have no one that is willing or able to care for them and have been appointed to the Public Guardian. The wards have no assets and their social security check goes directly to the facility where they live. The conservators serve as their voice on all medical, placement and any other issues that pertain to their well being. This does not include any transport or financial responsibilities.
