Description

Therapeutic Health Services was founded in 1972. In 1975 THS became the first chemical dependency treatment center in Washington State for pregnant women. In 1990, THS acquired Central Area Mental Health Center thereby becoming the first Washington State business to begin integrating mental health and chemical dependency treatment services. In 1998 and 1999, THS was nationally recognized by the Executive Office of the President of the United States for the "Focus on Families" program which is ranked as one of the most successful prevention programs in the United States. In January of 2000 THS merged with Eastside Recovery Center to expand service delivery to adults and adolescents on the Eastside. In 2001, as a result of the United States Deputy Surgeon General's visit to THS, the organization was selected to collaborate with Bastyr University on a study examining the relationship between acupuncture, attitudes toward treatment, and treatment outcomes for alcohol and drug dependent individuals. In January of 2004, THS opened a branch in Everett and in January of 2006, THS merged with Central Youth and Family Services, a 35 year old agency serving youth and adolescent. This collaboration allows THS to provide wrap-around services to the whole family.
