Mission Statement
The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is an all-volunteer, non-military, non-law enforcement, civilian component of the United States Coast Guard Forces. Founded in 1939 by an Act of Congress, as the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves and re-designated the Auxiliary in 1941, the Auxiliary is comprised of men and women numbering over 30,000, coming from all walks of life, donating thousands of hours in support of Coast Guard missions of Homeland Security and Recreational Boating Safety every week.

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary supports the Coast Guard in the areas of Homeland Security and Recreational Boating Safety through Public Education classes, on-water patrols, Vessel Safety Checks, and public affairs events.
