Mission Statement

Mission The mission of The University of Alabama Museums is to broaden the knowledge of natural sciences and cultural heritage through collections and quality programs of research, instruction and service. The mission of Moundville Archaeological Park is to maintain, preserve, and interpret the Moundville site to a broad and diverse audience. The park also fosters research concerning Moundville and provides recreational experiences to the visiting public.

Description

Moundville Archaeological Park interpets Native American culture and heritage to park visitors. The park maintains the Jones Museum, the Office of Archaeological Research and the Three Sisters garden. In October of each year the park hosts a four day Native American Festival that regularly attracts twelve to fifteen thousands visitors.
