Future Leaders for Peace

Volunteering with Future Leaders for Peace was a FANTASTIC opportunity for me to get involved with the Berkeley community. As a volunteer, I mediated group discussions about conflict resolution. The students in my group amazed me by honestly recounting stories about conflict in their homes and at school and by addressing how to "peacefully" address these types of conflict. I really felt that my group progressed over the course of our weekly meetings as we discussed different ways to resolve difficult situations. Although stimulating conversation between the members of my group was difficult at first, as time went on, they grew more and more comfortable with each other and were able to open their minds and hearts to their peers' intelligent advice and genuine sympathy. I STRONGLY recommend volunteering with FLFP...it is a wonderful way to get involved and better understand the Berkeley community! I am volunteering again in the fall!

Future Leaders for Peace provides opportunities for you to connect to the youth of your community. The organization helps train young students to live more peacefully in their daily lives. We help kids develop communication and leadership skills. The organization also ensures that each volunteers is equipped with these tools in their own lives too! It is a win-win opportunity and a highly rewarding experience.
