Mission Statement

To provide well-trained mentors or Access Coaches at local school sites to help youth connect with structured afterschool community programs, in order to reduce risk factors and increase protective factors associated with positive youth development.

Description

The Community Access Mentoring (CAM) was developed to help Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) students and families effectively identify and participate in prosocial afterschool programs and services. In selected schools, volunteer Community Access Coaches, trained as mentors, will be available to meet with youth identified through interest surveys, parents and school personnel referrals that would benefit from afterschool program participation. In addition, coaches will provide follow-up contact with youth, parents, and afterschool programs to ensure follow through and an effective match.
