Mission Statement

The Paul Robeson House located at 4951 Wlanut Street was purchased in 1959 by his sister Marian R. Forsythe. Ms. Frances Aulston, Founder & CEO, West Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, Paul Robeson House & Museum is at heart an educator and a cultural historian. Ms. Frances Aulston has put her energy and knowledge in making this historic site into a rich cultural centerfor the community and the city. Ms. Aulston received a Masters in Library Sciences from Drexel University and worked for the Free Library of Philadelphia. from which she is now retired.

Description

The Paul Robeson House Museum is located in the heart of West Philadelphia and was home to the legendary humanitarian. The residence is recognized as a National Historic Preservation site. The Institute serves as an archive and research center chronicling the Artist life's work, struggles and fight for justice through photographs, music and literature. Programming includes traveling lectures, concerts and exhibits throughout Philadelphia, the U.S. and internationally. The museum is presently managed by the West Philadelphia Cultural Alliance and is managed under the direction of Ms. Frances Aulston, Founder & CEO.
