Mission Statement
The mission of College Admissions Made Possible is to increase college access across Alabama by providing [or connecting] students and their families with empowering, intensive, and comprehensive tools, thereby making students more academically competitive for acceptance to the college or university of their choice.
Description
CAMP was established to address the issues that often prevent low income and first generation college students from achieving college success. The first problem is that students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds historically score significantly lower on standardized test than students from wealthier backgrounds. Secondly, low-income students and their families often lack access to crucial information about the college admission and financial aid processes. Many urban and rural school distracts have limited resources and operate with a very small staff of school counselors, which prevents many high schools from supplying critical information about the admissions process to prospective college students.
CAMP provides intensive college admissions preparation to low income and rural students in Alabama via its four core services: college admissions workshops, individual/ group counseling, test preparation, and college tours/fairs.
