Mission Statement

To establish partnerships with youth- centered organizations and community volunteers with youth in foster care and at-risk youth for the purpose of enhancing, supporting and providing a holistic approach for their educational, vocational and overall well being.

Description

The Children Youth and Family Collaborative (CYFC) is a nationally recognized, faith based organization serving over 2000 foster and at risk youth at twenty sites in Los Angeles and Compton. CYFC utilizes a holistic approach to enhance the academic and social development of participants through educational support, mentoring and enrichment opportunities. CYFC makes the connection between disadvantaged youth and a caring community through partnerships with all five major Los Angeles Colleges and Universities, the Los Angeles and Compton School Districts, community groups, faith based organizations and the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD.)

I took part in their Christmas In November event and was amazed by how hard the staff worked and made volunteers feel very welcomed. Everything was very organized and volunteers were never left guessing what they should do next. I definitely recommend this opportunity to volunteers in the LA area looking to do something. They have over 23 locations to choose from.
