Mission Statement

The mission of Erie County CASA is to speak for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the Courts. CASA promotes and supports quality volunteer representation for children, with volunteers advocating to provide each child a safe, permanent, nuturing home as quickly as possible. CASA believes every child deserves to have the opportunity to thrive and reach their potential.

CASA volunteers are appointed by Family Court Judges to promote the best interest of abused and neglected children involved in Family Court proceedings. The CASA volunteer must research the facts of the case, provide written and/or oral reports to assist the court in identifying concerns, facilitate the resolution of the presenting problems and monitor progress toward established goals.

The opportunity to advocate for children using legal research, analysis and writing skills and interviewing skills. It would also offer the ability to use and sharpen following up skills learned from trial prep.
