New Power Tour's mission is to increase the use of renewable, water and energy efficient teachnologies.
We are partnering with HEET - the Houghton Energy Efficiency Team, whose mission is to purse affordable, sustainable, and community-driven energy solutions for Houghton County, MI.
Description
HEET formed in 2014 when an MTU grad student, working with Houghton County's Board of Commissioners, enrolled Houghton County into the Georgetown University Energy Prize. We stand as one of the very few all-volunteer, community-led contestants.
The project has attracted incredible volunteers with amazing work ethics, in 8 Areas of Coordination. Each of these areas needs more support and a bigger team to really reach our goals.
Those aspects are best suited for people who like puzzles, challenges and working as a team to problem-solve.
Additionally, HEET needs boots-on-the-ground volunteer support in the form of winterizing the homes of low-income and elderly residents in our area. For this, our ask is simple: 3 hours, 3 times. Plus one hour going through our 9-Point Homeowner Efficiency Protocol training exhibit, which will be set up at the Carnegie Museum in November, and in other places as we progress in time.
Then we will pair you with a Trained Lead and a Trusted Coordinator so that when you volunteer, you will have direction and a person to turn to for questions.
