Mission Statement

The Cattery offers an alternative to traditional animal shelters in providing a no-kill, cage-free haven for homeless, abused, or abandoned cats. From there, we seek permanent, loving homes for these animals. In addition, our organization promotes public awareness regarding the value of animals and their welfare, the dangers of pet overpopulation, and the benefit of quality human-animal companionship.

Description

Along with finding homes for stray or unwanted cats, The Cattery benefits the community by providing a youth volunteer program and (soon) a senior pet program. Through the Youth Volunteer program, those age 12-17 can volunteer by themselves after attending an orientation with a parent or legal guardian. We think providing volunteer opportunities for these ages when children are excited about volunteering will help them carry that sense of philanthropy into adulthood. Once the Senior Pet program is up and running, it will allso senior cats (which are very hard to adopt out) will be places with Senior Citizens and help them take care of them physically and financially. Studies have proven that pet ownership improves physical and mental health of all people, but especially in seniors.
