I volunteer at Carilion Hospice with my Pet Therapy Dogs, Meadow and Indy. We love our work with the patients. The volunteer coordinator does an incredible job in valuing our contributions and respectfully presents opportunities to serve, learn, build relationships with other volunteers. Everyone is so compassionate and caring not just with the patients but also with each other. Truly a TOP NOTCH place deserving to give of our time and resources.

I was flagged to volunteer for this wonderful opportunity to serve through LinkedIn. It has been two years now and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in this unique and special way to touch the lives of others. Sue is a great organizer and everyone is super nice and easy to work with.

I wanted to become a member of a TEAM that is dedicated-by putting the needs of the patient first-a TEAM that is there to meet all needs 24/7. Dedicated, loyal, professional-going beyond the call of duty says "Carilion Clinic Hospice to me. My eyes have been opened wider to the meaning of compassion, empathy, loyalty, and trust. To give so little,as a volunteer, the above has helped me to grow and develop strength with new meanings. Thank you Carilion Clinic Hospice.

I truly enjoy volunteering as a Threshold choir singer for the Hospice patients. To use one's talents in this way is very rewarding as this brings joy and peace to the patient and family member/caregiver. We also have the added pleasure of working with great leaders and other wonderful devoted volunteers.

I have been a hospice volunteer with Carilion Clinic Hospice for little over a year and feel like it is a great match for me to be part of this hospice team. The thorough training taught by Sue has helped me to venture out in several areas to volunteer with them. My latest opportunity has been visiting a patient and this has made me realize even more how we all are connected and what a blessing it is for me to volunteer with Carilion Clinic Hospice.

This is a place where you can make a real difference in people's lives. The staff is very friendly and supportive of their volunteers. I have experienced a real caring, closeness and growth from Sue, the volunteer coordinator, in the ways she keeps me informed of available clients to visit with my therapy dog, her quick response to any questions I have and the knowledge she is always willing and ready to help, support and supply my needs for myself, my dog, and the people we visit. I have volunteered for many years with Carilion hospice doing pet therapy and I've never had a real complaint or problem with anyone there. There are so many special feelings and satisfaction which comes to a volunteer helping others on their final journey in life. It's not for everyone, but if you can, give it a try and see if you can make a difference!

I've been a volunteer with the hospice Threshold choir for a little over a year and have loved every minute of it. Sue is wonderful to work with keeps us all on track as we venture out to sing to patients. I am so grateful for this opportunity to serve in our community.

This is a wonderful organization providing all sorts of good, compassionate care for hospice participants and their families. I sing in the choir, and we go in small groups to sing to patients in their home or care facility. It is very rewarding personally, and the other choir members are great people!

I've been a hospice volunteer with Carilion Clinic Hospice since 1999. The staff members are wonderful to the patients and the volunteers. It feels like a family! What an honor it is to be part of this team.

Being a hospice volunteer is a very rewarding service to patients who need care..mentally, physically and spiritually in this time of their lives. There is much to learn from the hospice team of doctors, nurses, social workers, and clergy. . Training thoroughly prepares volunteers to be with patients when care-givers need to be away for errands, appointments or other reasons. In my work as a volunteer I have loved meeting new people, their families, and their loved one, the patient they care for.. Hospice sometimes serves a patient/family for a very short before a patient passes on. Than again, may serve a family and patient a much longer time.....in either case, a family and patient served by hospice is helped immeasurablly.

I have been a hospice volunteer for over 12 years with two different agencies. Carilion's hospice organization provides an outstanding experience for volunteers. There are many ways to get involved, some of which involve working with patients. The staff is supportive, caring and thoroughly professional. A great place to get plugged in!

I formerly was a bereavement volunteer with families who had lost a member. These folks usually have many friends and relatives to visit and console them. I found it much more appealing to sing to hospice patients, and give them a treat with a few songs from their lifetime. Certainly a joy for the patient and for the singers. Please come sing with us...get more than you give !

Singing for the Carilion Hospice Threshold Choir is very rewarding because I see the contentment it brings to not only the patient but to the family if they are present as well. it's sort of a ripple affect. It makes so much difference when I can use God's gift of singing to have an impact on the sick and dying. The Patients sometime perk up or sometimes fall asleep but I am graced by their prescence.

I've been a Carilion Clinic Hospice Volunteer for over five years. I became interested in Carilion Clinic Hospice through information I saw about their Pet Peace of Mind program. I was impressed with the concept of this program, and also found many other areas at CCH where I was interested in serving. Everyone on the CCH professional team are truly appreciative of everything the volunteers do, and never fail to thank us for our time. Every day of volunteering with CCH brings personal rewards not easily achieved in any other volunteering environment.

For the past two years I have served as a Hospice Volunteer, an experience that has been humbling and life changing. The training is excellent and the collaboration with the hospice team in meeting the needs of the patients and families is superb. The Volunteer Coordinator, Sue has helped me to take on various assignments while balancing the needs of my family. Opportunities for on-going training has enriched my ability to assist others AND to meet/network with other hospice volunteers.

Carilion Clinic Hospice is a fantastic organization that provides education, clinical care and overall support to patients and their families who are facing terminal illness. There are a multitude of ways to get involved, some of which involve direct patient contact and others that do not. The hospice team is caring, compassionate and always willing to "go the extra mile" for both patients AND volunteers. Come join us!!
